PROJECTED SCHEDULE

Currently the plan is to shoot in February 2011. That's the good news. Pre-production and casting is scheduled to start in November/December.

SOME INFO

The script is almost at Final Draft stage. According to some independent opinions it reads fantastic.

The film director plans to use the Free Cinema movement as integral part of the story in a 'documentary within a documentary' approach based on the workings of the original novel.

ADRIFT IN SOHO - THE STORY SO FAR

The film Adrift in Soho is currently in development stage. Keep in touch with this website and blog to check preproduction and shooting dates.

In the meantime, here's a bit of the story about how this movie was put together.

A few years ago producer Pablo Behrens (www.pablobehrens.com) found the novel in a second hand bookshop in Montevideo, Uruguay. Perhaps one of the most unlikely places on earth to find a copy of that novel.

As Pablo was working in London's Soho district at the time it was an incredible coincidence. Without even thinking about it, he bought the book and read it before the holiday was over.

The novel was in Spanish and it was called 'A la deriva en el Soho'. Translated back into English it was Adrift in Soho, a cult novel written by Colin Wilson and first published in England in 1961.

That's how the story of this movie began. The cover of that edition can be seen in the website of the film, http://www.adriftinsoho.com/ among other versions.

Back in London everything was forgotten for a few years until one day the author of the Adrift in Soho novel was signing copies of his new book called 'Alien Dawn' in Foyles booshop, Soho, of all places.

That's how and where they first met. To cut a long story short, an agreement to make the movie was signed and a script written. But the film business being what it is (slow, meandering, selfish with money) only now it appears that the film will be made.

We are almost there, a bit of water still has to go under the bridge. But very possibly in Autumn 2010 or Winter 2011 if you see a film crew in Soho filming andjavascript:void(0) the wind is blowing, it might be the crew of Adrift in Soho.
